Free, Fremium or Paid, what is the best strategy to sell digital products?

In my experience it is still convenient to offer free and freemium products on which to upsell later, but it is becoming more and more complicated.
I am not sure whether to start a strategy with only paid products or to continue with freemium products.
What is your experience? Do you have any suggestions?
