I've spent a lot of time this week watching launch videos and would love to know what you think makes a great one and whether you have any favourites?

It will really depend on what you want to achieve I guess. Three months ago we had a blog post dealing with this topic, if curious have a look: https://blog.videobolt.net/post/...

This is a video that is shown briefly and with specifics about your topic. The main thing is not to have too many details.

I like the idea of having 1 that gives your the overview / value prop of the product (maybe entirely animated) and 1 that is more of a tech / walkthrough of the product.

@dzaitzow I like this as a combination! A bit like the inverted pyramid in journalism. The headline (video 1) gives you the most salient points quickly, enough for the audience to decide if they want to know more, and those that do can read on (watch video 2) for the details.

Launching today Xence by Gaspar AI and we have some great launch videos there! You need to communicate the what (your product does), why and how, in short time! Also, good to have a demo and an installation video if needed

@marilena_n congrats those are great videos! I like the way you've broken it down into a series: Value Prop, Product Demo, Installation Guide. Curious to know why you opted to go without audio? Most promo videos seem to have music, a voiceover or both.

@ali_gordon thanks a lot for your feedback! we actually had music initially, unfortunately we could not the usage right on time for the launch so we had to go without!

For a launch, you don't need to make it fancy because, most likely, people here understand that most are bootstrapping their projects. That is hard to say because I make videos for a living. Given that information, my favorite is the simple loom video because you get to present, and I find it critical because people relate primarily to others.

@suchback thanks Adam. I love Loom for the same reason, it adds a personal flavour to the content and allows the audience to relate to the presenter.

Depends on what your product/service is that you're selling.

A great launch video is essential for effectively introducing a product, service, or brand to your target audience. It should capture their attention, communicate your message clearly, and generate excitement and interest.
