All else being equal, strong backlinks are what allows you to win over competition and drive quality traffic to your site. More relevant traffic -> more sign ups and paying customers. But as a SaaS business, what tactics would bring you the most? I've done robust research and here are the 9 (often untapped) link-building tactics for SaaS: 1. Leverage partnerships: In SaaS, strategic partnerships and alliances drive not just your link-building but overall GTM strategy. These links are arguably the easiest to get because as business partners, you already know each other. Get featured in partner's directory, host a joint webinar, provide a quote for their case study or create a blog post for their blog (e.g. on the trends in your niche, or a comparison of you vs. competing products). 2. Invest in a custom tool: If you got dev resources, consider building a tool that sites in your niche will love and link back to. Think calculators, generators, etc. 3. Digital PR: Get your team featured as experts on Connectively (featured by HARO) or similar platforms. Find upcoming publications and pitch the journalists. I've seen a lot of journalists in the tech niche on Connectively. 4. Get featured on a podcast: There are tons of podcasts in the SaaS space for you to share your story & learnings. As a guest on an episode, you can reach new audiences and build trust. And as a bonus, you'll normally snag a backlink from the episode's show notes. 5. Create images & infographics: For your blog posts, create eye-catching infographics, graphs, and visuals. Images get liked and shared 3x more often! 6. Unlinked brand mentions: Another low-hanging fruit. Set up Google alerts to catch unlinked brand mentions or simply google your SaaS name. Then ask the site admin to add the backlink if possible. 7. FAQ pages: A well-crafted FAQ page isn't just for your customers - it can attract backlinks from others who see it as a helpful resource. Check Ubersuggest for the questions that people ask for your keywords, and provide answers in your content. 8. Resource pages: Curate a "best tools" page on your site, including your own product and others you genuinely recommend. It's a win-win: valuable for your audience, backlinks for you. 9. Comparison pages: Create objective comparison pages showcasing your product alongside competitors. If you're just starting out, you'll normally start with the most famous alternative and mention your own product as the 2nd or the 3rd one. As you gain authority, you might mention yourself on the top! Have you tried any of these methods yet? Which ones worked best for you? Also, feel free to ask me follow-ups so I can elaborate more! :)
