When do you send newsletters? Time, day, (frequency)?

Just out of my curiosity.
Which times are the best (for you) when sending your newsletter?
Can you also share the reason why you decided on such a timing?
I want to understand the "psychology" behind that.

Speaking for myself – I send weekly newsletters (on Monday, trying to ship them until noon CET – but I am not so strict about that) – but maybe I will change that because, on Mondays, people are overwhelmed and probably do not have so much time for reading. I will test it in the future.

@busmark_w_nika yes, exactly :-) It's across industries based on the idea to send early in the morning. What about you?
minimalist phone: creating folders
@casper_brix Do you mean CET 7.00 am? + what is your target audience (industry)?
minimalist phone: creating folders
@casper_brix My hope was that people get that email also in the morning but when I send it internationally, they receive it at different times :D I need to customize it :D
minimalist phone: creating folders
@rada_vassil1 I realised it, so I need to prepare another time :D but do not know if weekends are good for that.
@busmark_w_nika I try Tuesdays and Thursdays at approx 07.00 local time

Have been trying different times. Still trying to work it out. Tuesdays seem good. AS for the hour, we're trying 10 a.m (GMT)

@salar__davari who is your target audience + country? Because I have many people from different locations and when the list will be long and full of various data –> I need to customize it.
AI HomeDesign
@busmark_w_nika My main audience are interior designers and real estate agents in the US. Yea, that customization is annoying but very helpful.
minimalist phone: creating folders
@salar__davari do you customize your emails? Also, what tool do you use? Mailchimp, Beehiiv or so?
AI HomeDesign
@busmark_w_nika Yea. Mostly when there is a product update. I use Customer .io
minimalist phone: creating folders
@salar__davari I have heard something about customer io. I will consider it. :) Thanks!
I also send out newsletters every Monday but since our audience is international, I've found that at 7-8 PM CET they perform better.
minimalist phone: creating folders
@emiliya_strahilova who are people in target audience? Have you also tested another options in week?
Usually Tuesday UCT 16:30

@soumya_chaturvedi Can you share the link?
The timing and frequency of sending newsletters depend on the product and target segment. For B2C brands related to home entertainment, I recommend sending newsletters after working hours and on weekends when consumers are more likely to engage. For B2B communications, it's best to send during office hours, typically mid-week, when professionals are actively managing their work-related emails. This strategic approach ensures optimal engagement and relevance for each audience.

@natalie_trotsenko Do you have your personal experience with that? Which worked best for you/your company?
@busmark_w_nika it is exactly my knowledge as two years ago I have been working in B2B segment and currently working in B2C entertainment brand
minimalist phone: creating folders
@natalie_trotsenko can I know what was/is the field/industry for both?

@natalie_trotsenko @busmark_w_nika +1 to weekends for consumer! I used to send emails on Sundays at 8PM and they converted well (D2C fashion brand).

@natalie_trotsenko @erin_gusty hmm, you know what? I probably also will try weekends.

I quite literally run a newsletter on Psychology since the last 3 years and have experimented a lot with timings. I send it on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Timings are generally around UTC 1:00PM.
The psychology is simple. Make your email stand out because I write them very crisp.

While send testing is important, the biggest factor I've seen lead to success is sending on a regular basis. E.g. always send your Product updates on the first Tuesday of the month at noon; send your newsletter as a Friday treat on Fridays at 9AM; etc. Pick a day/time and stick with it so users know when they can expect to hear from you, and you can build anticipation while they wait.
minimalist phone: creating folders
@erin_gusty Where can I see your newsletter? :)
If I receive a Fastmail notification 'on-the-hour', I can guarantee it's going to be from a mailing list, and it gets ignored.
I've been wondering if sending newsletters at random times in the hour would increase reader numbers.

@remindify "I've been wondering if sending newsletters at random times in the hour would increase reader numbers." – why do you have this hypothesis?
FlowLayout
Product idea: Timezoned newsletter dispenser 😬 Send everyone emails in their own local timezone. 9AM Tuesday localised timezone.
minimalist phone: creating folders
@sentry_co This is a good idea! :) Maybe Mailchimp has something similar in their automatization system (need to check it out.
FlowLayout
@busmark_w_nika I doubt mail chimp has it. It would require some scraping, like getprospect.com but scraping peoples geo-location as well. That's why it's a great product idea for someone to make. Imagine the increased conversion rate. People check their mail in the morning, and quickly triage through it. And if you're higher up in the list, you get a bit more attention etc. "Newsletters delivered to you in the morning where ever you are" 🥐☕️
minimalist phone: creating folders
@sentry_co I think that somehow can be audience "separated" (probably when you know their geolocation and create audiences according to countries, time zones, regions etc.) – you can "filter" those and tag them. Scheduled the newsletter for that tagged audience. That's why I tried to ask people in forms about their location... yeah... tried :D
FlowLayout
@busmark_w_nika Yeah but forms break UX. Make it simple for people to signup etc. Geo-loc is easy. Just scrape it of LinkedIn. If getprospect.com can find emails from just a name, then you can also find geo-loc from just an email. There might exist something out there that does this tho.
Devinstock
It's Sunday 12:00am GMT, i send it on this time because morning is free, and i have time to focus on writing content :)
minimalist phone: creating folders
@abdellah_abbous Probably I also try weekends. It will be very different from "norma".
minimalist phone: creating folders
@busmark_w_nika Bi-weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9:AM GMT.
