Setting goals and accomplishing them. Learning and developing yourself through the process. Collaborating with like-minded and enthusiastic people. My passion for the projects I'm working on. These are some of the most important motivating factors for me.

@price2spy ah, learning! Maybe the most motivational thing for me :)

Motivation for me comes from: 1. Working for myself instead of being dictated to by Employers 🙄 2. Utilising my skills/working in sectors I like e.g. non profit 3. Knowing my work makes a difference

The success of my projects motivates me and gives me a sense of accomplishment. Recognition by my top management is a significant source of my motivation.
Tytti Sandström
@elena_cirera I find similar things highly motivating 😊

I'm motivated when there's a purpose in the work I'm doing. This is why I love working for GreenFrame! We created a tool that allows other developers to measure and reduce their website's CO2 emissions. If you're interested in this topic too, check out GreenFrame: https://greenframe.io/

@caroline_schneider thank you! I'm so happy for you for finding a job where there's a strong feeling of purpose :)

I am extremely motivated when I am able to reach the realistically set goals on schedule. In addition, my motivation is based on balance between freedom and responsibility. Also feedback plays a big part when trying to develop myself :)
Anu Varila
@eeri2 Have to admit that it is not easy. I believe that 15 years experience with customers (my goals are related to customer work) helps and the fact that you are able to constantly adjust your goals to make them work better.

@anu_varila Interesting! How are you able to make the goals to be just ambitious enough that you can reach then reach them? I find it hard to estimate if a goal is realistic or not and then I easily get disappointed if something doesn't go as I anticipated.
Tytti Sandström
@anu_varila the balance between freedom and responsibility plays a huge role in my motivation (and enjoying my work) as well!
Laura Partanen
@anu_varila I can totally relate to this! These are maybe the main things affecting to my motivation, too. One thing I would add, is that the work should be meaningful and it should bring some value to me and to others :)
Anu Varila
@tytti_sandstrom I'm sure this is more important than many people think!
Petteri Puumala
I am motivated by the fact that my work can be measured by appropriate indicators. It is also important for me to know how I can do my job better and, in return, to receive feedback if I have done well. I am also motivated by the support and like-mindedness of the work community. What motivates you? :)
Tytti Sandström
@petteri_puumala Thanks for sharing your motivators! I just had a discussion with my coworkers about motivation, and my understanding of it grew again. What an interesting topic! Some things that motivate me: goals & targets, inspiring people around me, competition (when i feel i have possibility to succeed), urge to succeed in what i do

I'm motivated when I get to see my efforts make a difference. It can be within the company, or to a customer I'm helping.
Tytti Sandström
@eeri2 This is important. The phases when i've felt unmotivated in my work are when i've felt that my effort isn't needed
Ciprian Istodor
I'm motivated only when i see my efforts make a difference, only when i see good results
Tytti Sandström
@internova_games I feel you. If i ever feel that my effort doesn't make a difference, my motivation level decreases significantly
