I have a Start.Me page of links to music I listen to while working: (public link) https://start.me/p/KM77xq/wiw-links

I love listening to OST (Hans Zimmer, Pinar Toprak, Brian Tyler, Ludwig Göransson, Alan Silvestri, Henry Jackman etc..), or any other music without any lyrics. Music with lyrics usually slows me down as I guess our brain tries to understand them even if we're not actively listening... 😉
    Tytti Sandström
@jontravens Now I'm a little bit more familiar with Hans Zimmer :) Thanks to you!
    Jon TRAVENS
@tytti_sandstrom Most people watching movies usually heard his music without even knowing his name 😉 Hope you like it, it is not exactely the same style as Jinjer 😅

Thanks for bringing this point into the discussion. I believe it depends, on what type of work you're into and it also improves your work output as well. It actually sets the mood for the meeting. Before going for a sales call: Rock music While coding: Classical and Soul Before ending a work: Pop and instrumental... That's weird but it works for me. Listening the song at the right time is very important to me

I prefer to listen to some radio stations, without ads, with great playlists (soul, 80s, funk, minimal, bossa nova, soundtracks etc) such as this 5 online radios: 1. VANILLA Radio from Greece (pick Smooth channel) 2. Nicecream.fm Uk 3. Naxi radio from Serbia (pick 80s station) 4. 885.fm from California 5. Mixfmlebanon from Lebanon
    Mahak from Outgrow
That depends on my daily mood. On Monday I listen to pop songs or Taylor swift country songs to keep myself energized for the day. By the weekend I come to soft music. Youtube Music and Spotify are best for playlists. I also listen to kpop music. Its really hard to imagine life without music :)
    Maciej Cupial
I started to use Endel App, and it has good music for deep working.
    Tytti Sandström
@maciej_cupial Nice! I have to check this out. So far i've used Youtube and Spotify. What are the best properties in Endel compared to Spotify, in you opinion?
    Aleksi Halsas
I have tried to limit stimulus during work and not listen that much music, but still do a lot. Mostly something instrumental.
    Tytti Sandström
@aleksi_halsas1 Insturumental music helps me focus. Even in quiet surroudings. It would be nice to know the psychological mechanisms behind that

528hz 'brainwave' music Melodic / Deep House Classical / Renaissance Music I find anything with lyrics tends to distract me as I start listening to words and 'thinking' about them rather than just letting it be apart of my background
    Tytti Sandström
@kmkmkm I actually gave a thought on this lyrics thing today, after someone mentioned the same thing before. Here's the weird thing: I don'd get that distracted by music with English lyrics, but i could never listen to music with Finnish lyrics (my native language) while working. I find it weird, since i understand english pretty fluently :D
I usually listen to music during my work to make myself feel almost like I'm doing a workout! I opt for upbeat songs when I need to get a lot of work done, and slower (perhaps melancholic) music when I'm finishing up my work for the day. What music do you listen to, Tytti?
    Tytti Sandström
@maxine_buchert usually as focus music I listen to youtube. I just search for "relaxing", "inspiring" or "focus" music, and pick one of the first suggestions. I love metal music, so f i need more energy that's my choise :)
    Ninad Sail
Indian soulful music - Give it a try!
    Tytti Sandström
@ninad_sail do you have any spesific suggestions? So far my touch to Indian music has been Bloodywood :D

Although I love music, I can't listen to it while I work. It gets in the way because I keep putting my head into the rhythm of the music instead of concentrating on what I'm working on. On the road though, I get my groove going...

If I do, I typically select playlists spotify recommends under their search function. It is pretty rare though that I listen to something.
    Tytti Sandström
@arttuhaho I'm quite new Spotify user, but i think they have good algorithms that find suitable music for me :)
    Elena Cirera
I think instrumental music could be good when you work on tasks that need concentration. To take a short break and to energize yourself, you can listen to the music of your choice.
    Tytti Sandström
@elena_cirera this is how it usually works for me :) Though in short breaks i rarely need energizing, but mostly calming. I some times use meditation tracks for this purpose :)
    Mayank Bishwas
Sometimes. And that too only lofi instrumentals.

Hello everyone Helpful and informative community. Well, this topic is my favorite as I am doing work on best cheap acoustic electric guitars. https://musicmension.com/best-ch... Thank you
    Anu Varila
I like to listen instrumental music when I want to focus on something and pop or rock if I need energy or courage :D
    Tytti Sandström
@anu_varila Seems like this is the trend: instrumental for focus and more upbeat for energy :)

Today i'm working on finance numbers and data - with Jinjer on my headphones :) https://open.spotify.com/search/... Any Jinjer fans here?
    Jarmo Ahonen
I have little or no possibilities listening to music at work because my work is so sound-related. it bothers me sometimes since I am a big fan of music and when I was younger, I used to listen to music even when I was sleeping. :)

@jarmo_ahonen I totally understand you. Fortunately I have possibilities to listen to music during some of my work tasks :)

Recently, I’ve been listening to a lot of heavy metal. Rammstein, Children of Bodom, Slipknot, Norther, … The more aggressive, the better. At some point I get into such a deep flow that hours can go by.
