For me the key has been a consistent bedtime, which allows me to have a consistent rise time. Everything else kind of solves itself if you just stick to an arbitrary bedtime. I've worked with a sleep startup in the past, and there are all kinds of awesome things you can do with the metrics… But if I was doing a sleep startup today, I would focus it 100% on behavior change support related to sticking to a consistent bedtime. I think the literature supports this approach too.

@bensyverson Thank you, Ben! I totally agree – having a consistent bedtime helps me too. It really sets a solid foundation for all other areas of life and habits.
Not to lie but yes, "Poor Discipline".
For me it's always stress. When I control my stress levels, it's easier to get enough rest for me.
On a side note, this is an interesting question, do you mind if I open a poll for it on PollQuester ?
A bad bed - I can't sleep in those. Regular waking-up and sleeping time helps a lot. For years I had to sleep either less than 7 hours or get the sleep in 2 pieces, randomly per day, would not recommend that to my worst enemy.
