In the first interview, we typically look for cultural fit, communication skills, and a basic understanding of the required technical skills. We want to see how well the candidate aligns with our team's values, their ability to articulate thoughts clearly, and whether they have a foundational grasp of the role.

@thestarkster Thanks for the reply, I was thinking more about their professional skills and work experience. But honestly, interviews really take time and effort. So I'm trying to get a product for that myself. Trying to come up with some idea of what people are looking for.

In the first interview, the main things I look for include: Cultural Fit: Does the candidate align with our company culture and values? Communication Skills: Can they articulate their thoughts clearly and effectively? Basic Competency: Do they have the foundational skills and knowledge for the role? Motivation: Are they genuinely interested in the position and our company? Problem-Solving Abilities: How do they approach and solve problems? Behavioral Indicators: Past behavior is often a good predictor of future performance. Reliability: Are they punctual and professional in their interview conduct? These points help in quickly assessing whether a candidate is worth further consideration.

@an_zuo Typically we like to see personal projects that they have done - its a good indicator of what they can and can't do (yet). If they're working on projects outside of their day-day job as well they must have some enthusiasm for the work so its a win-win :D
