I have been analysing what products are being launched on PH only to realise there's a sea of digital products and hardly any physical products. What are your thoughts on it?

Digital products get more engagement than physical products

@dharmigohil I thought so. thank you for the insight.

Try and see, just because it worked or didn't work for other people doesn't mean you will see the same results. Nike has a great motto in these situations: "Just do it!"

@aditya_chavan3 Also, added you on Twitter, PH, etc.

@siavoshzarrasvand advice taken. Will surely give it a try and will ping you for support ;)

Hey Aditya! Check yestersay's top - the physical product made for pets made it. The digital product requires less time to create that is why we see here much less physical ones I believe.
Aditya Chavan
@kate_ramakaieva Thank you for sharing that insight. I'll certainly check.

Product Hunt (PH) is primarily known for digital products, but you can also launch direct-to-consumer (D2C) physical products on the platform. While it's true that digital products dominate, there's room for physical goods too. Success depends on the product's uniqueness and appeal to the PH audience.
Aditya Chavan
@tanvirulhuda Can I target audience from a specific country at the time of Launch?
Aditya Chavan
@aurther_bella Love that one liner and PH totally is for tech savvy people and early tech adopters.

Product Hunt (PH) is not limited to digital products; it is a platform where you can launch and promote a wide range of products, including direct-to-consumer (D2C) physical products. While Product Hunt initially gained popularity for being a platform for startups to showcase their digital and tech-related products and services, it has evolved to accommodate a broader spectrum of offerings. Many companies and entrepreneurs use Product Hunt to introduce and gain visibility for their D2C physical products, such as gadgets, consumer electronics, fashion items, home goods, and more. When launching a D2C product on Product Hunt, you can create a compelling product page, share details about the product, upload images and videos, and engage with the community to generate interest and feedback. However, it's essential to ensure that your D2C product aligns with the Product Hunt community's interests and that you follow the platform's guidelines. While digital and tech products continue to dominate the platform, there's room for innovative physical products to gain attention and support from the Product Hunt community as well. apple smart watch

@zahid_mehmood3 Impressive. Thank you for the detailed comment.

have seen at least 1-2 launched a week that are touch-and-feel products. PH is a great way to promote anything that could cater to a niche audience.
Aditya Chavan
Thank you for the information @imraju, how many of those tough and feel product have you tried or ordered?
Carol Moh
I think it’s much harder for physical products and PH feels a lot more optimized for digital products for sure. I think the nature of a 24 hours launch period means there is a fast turnaround which suits digital products. People are able to experience the product (typically they are free to use or free trial) and leave feedback/upvote in a matter of minutes. Physical products can’t compete in that way but if it has strong marketing, use case/demo examples that showcase it maybe it could work.
Aditya Chavan
@carolmoh yup, one of the biggest concerns with physical product is shipping. That automatically narrows your PH audience to serviceable audience. So if only a subset of total PH audience finds your product relevant then your product has no chance to trend.

Hey dude! I've observed lots of launches on PH that are physical products. PH will always be the first loop to promote anything product. Don't hesitate to give it a short (:
Aditya Chavan
Appreciate that candid response @rhexai. And yes I will give it a shot.

@aditya_chavan3 Great! Best of luck man

PH (Product Hunt) is a platform predominantly focused on showcasing and discovering digital products, apps, and tech-related innovations. While it primarily caters to digital products, some physical or direct-to-consumer (D2C) products have been launched and gained attention on the platform, especially if they incorporate innovative technology or disrupt traditional markets. However, the platform's primary audience and focus remain on digital products and tech startups.
Aditya Chavan
Understood @amirsohail9. Thank you for the insight.
Florence Roy
Have launched a physical product 2 months back. Its performing well in market - https://www.producthunt.com/prod...
Aditya Chavan
You are a rockstar @florence_roy. Could you please share some tips. thanks in advance!
Oleg Naumenko
Yeah, it looks like the platform is dominated by digital products (and with an obligatory "AI" postfix), but there are successful outliers time to time For example, yesterday's product of the day is a physical direct-to-consumer thingy: https://www.producthunt.com/post... However, I have no idea, how much of an impact this astonishing launch has on their business
Aditya Chavan
@naou first, thank you for sharing an example. Second, I believe to have an impact on a D2C business there needs a mechanism to target people from one country. As most often D2C businesses have a Geo Location that they serve. Thoughts on this?
Oleg Naumenko
@aditya_chavan3 well, I'd say it depends, many variables should be looked upon. If the product has some demand worldwide (albeit it can be a niche product), and if the vendor ships everywhere — Product Hunt is as good as anything else The successful launch here also would be a strong case in your portfolio for investors outreach However, if the team isn't seeking investments and if the international sales are difficult to organize, then Product Hunt may be not a first-tier platform to put efforts into

While PH is certainly a thriving space for digital products and services, it's not strictly limited to them. In fact, the D2C (Direct-to-Consumer) market is gaining momentum in the country, offering a promising avenue for launching physical products directly to Filipino consumers.
Aditya Chavan
@jasparcj Makes sense. I'll keep that in mind. But how do you target PH users from a specific country?
Joypal
@aditya_chavan3 , you've hit the nail on the head! Product Hunt does seem flooded with digital treasures, but that's mainly because they're quick to market and easier to showcase. Physical products, on the other hand, demand a different rhythm. Marketing a tangible product is like a slow dance—takes time, precision, and a bit of finesse. Plus, navigating the global delivery maze is no easy feat. Most startups launching here are bootstrapped or rely on angel funds, making it trickier. That being said, I've personally launched a couple of physical gems on PH, and it's all about giving them the attention they deserve. Take my recent find, the tadpole ( https://www.producthunt.com/post... ) making waves. While PH may be teeming with digital brilliance, there's room for our physical marvels too. It's like introducing a rare flower in a digital garden—needs a bit of care, but it stands out beautifully. 🌺 Keep the faith! Few physical products which I hunted and schedule to launch are Urban Vault, Peel-Works

@joypal thanks for sharing your insights

Hey there! I totally understand your observation about the majority of products being digital on Product Hunt. However, I believe that Product Hunt is not exclusively limited to digital products. You can definitely launch D2C (Direct-to-Consumer) physical products here as well. In fact, there have been successful launches of physical products on Product Hunt in the past. It all comes down to how well you present your product and engage with the community. Speaking of launching products, I'm actually in the process of launching my own product soon. It would be great to get some advice from you on how to make a successful launch on Product Hunt. Additionally, I would love to invite you to check out my product once it's live and provide me with your valuable feedback. Feel free to click on the "Notify" button to get notified when it's ready. Thanks in advance!

@stylar_ai Sure, lets connect on LinkedIn and you can share the product links in DM

Yes, PH is good only good for digital products. Whereas if you're exploring platforms for launching a direct-to-consumer (D2C) product, platforms like Shopify and Etsy are fantastic choices. They're tailored for physical products, providing a seamless experience for setting up shop, managing inventory, and reaching a wide audience.
Aditya Chavan
@toppo11 Understood. thank you for your feedback.
Loran Gray
Yes, you can launch direct-to-consumer (D2C) products on PH. In fact, PH has been a successful platform for launching many D2C brands, such as as Drop, Allbirds, and Purple. PH's large audience of early adopters and tech enthusiasts makes it a great place to get feedback on your product and generate sales..
Aditya Chavan
Lovely insights on the audience @loran_gray. Have you launched any physical products on PH?
Steve Kim
I think it's early stage of marketing points for many SaaS companies. But there are some good products here :)
