Is Bluesky another fad or do they have a real chance to succeed?

This project has the ambition to be decentralised.

There is a team of 20 remote workers and over 20 million users.
(The numbers are growing rapidly.)

@busmark_w_nika No as always, Im way too early. Get disappointed and miss the actual bull run. And that too early in this context. What was the name again? It's like an elephant Mosqus? No. Mamut? no. Mastadon. that's it. But it's a ghost town TBH. Ghost town syndrome is the biggest problem any product that needs strong network effects has. That's why nothing can compete with Producthunt anytime soon as well, everything else is a ghost town. I think BSky has its moment now, because half of America just feels like they have to do something now after the election. And that's BlueSky. So let's see in a year, how things turned out. I like linkedin atm. Feels more personal. You can talk to anyone there. And they actually reply.

I'm bull on Bluesky. X is failing in the same way myspace failed. It focuses on a niche user group. My space focused too heavily on music and entertainment audience. The same way X is focusing on one side of the political spectrum. 😅

Bluesky has potential, especially with its decentralized approach (via the AT Protocol) and focus on user control, but its success depends on maintaining momentum, addressing privacy concerns, and competing against established platforms like Twitter/X. It's too early to say if it will be a lasting success or just a fad.

For me, Bluesky is a chance to start fresh – building a professional circle and holding authentic, interest-based conversations instead of chasing conversions. Networking is always part of the mix, but here it feels more natural. I hope it lasts.

I think it definitely has potential, but like most social networks, it will have to deal with content moderation and all of the challenges with UCG... it's still much more chill to scroll there than Twitter... https://bsky.app/profile/anthony...

@sentry_co Time will show us. The more people remain active there, the higher chances the platform has to be more "alive".

Since TikTok, no any other app remained alive so long. My assumption is that people can return back to X because it is still the main source of news and as the Republicans have won and the main of them is friend with Musk, everything will be on X.

But people on Bsky are motivated/driven by high engagement on Bsky.
