How important is a video at launch?

When I go to review a page, I’m expecting a video… and it better be cool OR informative… but it better be short.
Tell me about your video preferences?

I don't know. I think a clear description with out marketing jargon is better. If you have to make a video to come across with the purpose of your product, fine, but make it an auto-playing gif at least.

@sentry_co I agree. I created a video that’s written in plain words so it’s super easy to understand. Not technical in the least bit. Otherwise I think you alienate a lot of folks

@sentry_co damn right that is.

I think a video 30-45 seconds is a great way to engage. Sometimes people don’t want to read slabs of text or see a ton of images. A short explainer video can go along way. But it should be showing how quickly and easily it takes the customer from point A (problem) to point B (solution)
Animated videos are the best! 😁
@annitahzl oooo do you have a good example?
@chtrbx_ai Of course! You can have a look at the video on the Gemss project page: https://www.producthunt.com/prod...

I would say it's important, but make sure you have other media in place first.
I consider it supplemental. If you have the time, do it, but I know plenty of people who will never watch a video.
All they want is the quick summary of what you product does.
@olive_haus I have some nice slides with screen shots and a 30 second sizzle video.
Ironically, I created the video with type frames in two hours. Really great product.
SyncSignature
@olive_haus I second that.
Crucial! A launch video adds a personal touch and engages users instantly.
Videos are great, but have you considered interactive demos? It's like bringing the product to life right on the landing page.

The video shows your product from the other side depending on how the editor shows it. But if there is a product video at launch, then the chance of becoming the best product of the day will increase.
I would say not that important, but it must tell people what your product is and when to use the product, and if it is a tool make sure to explain features clearly.

launch videos? yeah, huge fan. they're like your product's first hello. short's good, keeps people watching. cool's great for buzz, informative's great for clarity. best ones? they do both. got a fave style or one that really stuck with you?
I think Its a better Idea because atthe time people video
@owen_keller yea, people seem to gravitate towards the video.
i would say so as someone who makes 100s of videos with his team
@chtrbx_ai i could share some advice about making a good converting video from my experience
u can dm me on Twitter https://twitter.com/hey_it_Ahmed
@ahmed_yassin2 rad! In your opinion, where is the balance of high level vs technical
Motion Designer always do the thing. It looks great, straight forward message to the customers.
@vectormiller what is that?! Never heard of it?
@vectormiller Haha agree 😉
Its important, as its better not to regret anything afterwards.
if the video is interesting it can be on 50-60 second.
I think i would only watch a video if i already understood and liked the product

@sweizbeatz what if you didn’t understand the product but was curious to learn more? Would you watch it?
@sweizbeatz so if I’m watching the video it’s because I actually like what I think I understand and want to learn alll about it. If the fundamental understanding isn’t grasp while reading the description then I wouldn’t go through the “hassle” of watching the video
REI Litics
@sweizbeatz that makes sense. I didn’t even realize. It’s pops up for me I watch and then close. But I see what you mean. I ask this because I plan to launch and wasn’t sure if I should add a video
I’m stuck between a commercial, a demo or a tutorial … which one do you think is perfect a launch?
(launching soon so that’s why I’m gathering feedback pretty much everywhere 😁)
REI Litics
@jonathantahiry keep it short, and take the customer through a quick and easy journey from the problem they face to the solution and benefit they get. Don’t take time with a full demo, they will not watch it all.
@jonathantahiry I’m also launching soon and I think a sizzle reel is best. Supplemented with nice screenshots. At least that’s what I’m doing for mine
I love video, but can be time-consuming to get the content, especially with a deadline. I'm thinking of editing another animation for my site, as I feel like seeing something moving straight away is always an attention-grabber... plus, if it can explain who you are in a few seconds, it's a killer!
@jordan_from_lvh my guy… check out type frames. It’s awesome. I made a sizzle video in like 2 hrs.
