How do you validate your business ideas?

Do you ask relatives? Just make a landing page? Run ads? Or do you just get to building, release and then and hope for the best?!

I scratch my own itch - I build products I want or see a need for, then I make a quick prototype and showcase to communities based around the idea

Then I have a single CTA such as join the mailing list

you can't really validate something that doesn't exist. Just build and see what happens. I think most people recommend building quickly, validating (by seeing its adoption from early users), and then finally iterating over and over again.
