Do you think Product Hunt still serves its original purpose? I was scrolling through the Product Hunt discussion section when I stumbled upon a post by @busmark_w_nika 🔗https://www.producthunt.com/discussions/the-most-common-question-about-product-hunt-my-reaction that totally blew my mind. It resonated with me so much, that I couldn’t help but reflect on the whole purpose of using Product Hunt. It made me wonder when you think of Product Hunt today, what do you think of? Is it still the go-to place for product launches, or has it turned into more of a platform for visibility? How do you personally use it to gather feedback, boost visibility, or something else entirely?

I will say both. It is used for visibility as well as Product launch. Without visibility launching a product does not make sence. If you do not get feedback on your product then how can you enhance the product. With vissibility people of interest can be found.

Hey Amit, I am happy that the topic sparked the discussion and another food for thought even after several days. That was the purpose. I have to say (and maybe it is a sentiment) that I have a relationship/connection to this platform. It started as @rrhoover's newsletter, where he cherry-picked useful tools for himself. People liked it so much that he continued, and the platform was created then. So an entity (PH) still approves what is/is not suitable to show. (this is a similarity) What could have changed significantly is the extent of this platform. People took over it in terms of usage and the decision-making is more (maybe it should be more) done collectively by the community as we became a significant part of the platform by submitting our products. I think that the platform ATM is trying to find itself. To be attractive to more parties [makers (companies/startups), the platform itself, regular users/visitors and investors/VCs]. It is not easy.

Yes, I still think Product Hunt serves its original purpose. I discover useful tools almost every day, and it’s a fantastic platform for exploring innovative products and fresh ideas. That said, I feel the featured section could use some optimization. It doesn’t always spotlight the most exciting or impactful launches, which can make uncovering hidden gems a bit tricky. Still, the overall community vibe is great, and I enjoy being part of it!

It’s evolved over time, but at its core. It still helps makers share and get feedback

I think Product Hunt still works as an excellent launch platform, though it's also evolved into a space for discovery and visibility.

I feel like Product Hunt has expanded in terms of scope, but the community-driven spirit remains strong. It still brings fresh perspectives and products to the forefront.

Finding interesting things and the community are important to me. Though visibility has undoubtedly taken center stage, the spirit of discovery is still present.
