Do you think Domain Authority is an important metric?

While it is clear that the best performing sites in the world also have the highest DA, I know plenty of businesses with DA <10, that rank first for their main keywords.

DA is calculated based on the number of links and the referring domains' authority. This tries to emulate PageRank back in the days. The strength of a backlink profile gives more leverage to rank, but you can also rank with a weak profile, depending on the competition, the industry, etc. I consider it an important metric. I use it to assess a site before doing link exchanges or other types of partnerships.

even if someone claims that it doesnt matter, it is still does, especially among marketers. They still make any effort to build a strong DA - even if it is an estimation from ahrefs, semrush or related pages
