Yeah, starting with an outline is usually the way to go. It helps structure your thoughts. But sometimes when inspiration strikes, you just gotta dive right in and get those ideas down while they're fresh! I find a combo of both approaches works well depending on the situation.
Depending on the content, I usually start with a rough outline to organize my thoughts. Then I dive in and start fleshing it out, refining as I go. The outline keeps me on track but I stay flexible in case inspiration strikes and I want to explore a tangent. For more complex topics, spending more time on a detailed outline up front can actually save time overall and result in better structured content in the end. But for simpler subjects I'm very familiar with, I sometimes skip the outline and just start writing, since I already have a clear picture in my head.
I usually start with a quick outline to organize my main points and flow. But sometimes when I'm really inspired or on a roll, I just jump in and start writing, then go back and smooth out the structure later. I think mixing both approaches depending on your energy and the piece works well! The key is not getting too hung up on the outline and allowing yourself to explore ideas as they come.
By default, we should start with outlines refine them step by step, adding details with each iteration. In most cases, this approach delivers the best results. However, sometimes, when we have a clear understanding of what we’re doing and can see the big picture, it’s possible to move straight to the final version. This helps preserve inspiration and will likely save time as well.
