Devin AI sounds impressive, but replacing software engineers? As a tech enthusiast who's tinkered with various projects, I'd say AI can definitely assist in coding tasks, but the human touch and creativity of a software engineer are irreplaceable. Let's see if Devin can handle the late-night debugging sessions and endless coffee runs too!

If the demos they've shown are accurate, which they seem to be, then many SWE roles are likely to be affected by AI-driven systems. Individuals, not necessarily engineers but those with technical or general backgrounds, could benefit from this. You'll need simply to provide the AI with context and the necessary abstractions to solve problems. The fact that it can search on internet, debug and fix issues, shows that the tool can be a productivity winner for small missions or problems. Ofc someone will be using it to deliver more quickly !

I think the state of AI right now isn't to replace but to assist!! I could devin taking over mindless tasks so that devs can focus more on the problem solving aspect
