Hey everyone! I'm curious what do you do for your mental health? How do you find your personal balance? Remote working actually brought more hours of real work to people's life. Huge amount of people's burns out. So what do you do to cope with any type of stress?

Planning, organisation and discipline are key! I try to do sport every day and have regular start / stop hours

@iamgoconnor What are your start / stop hours? Is it difficult to follow them?

Unfortunately, most people have ignored this vital element of their life.

Here is my recipe.. Daily walks. I'm living with a cute puppy so I have to walk and walking really helps. Have a schedule. Every day I start at 9am and stop at 8pm. No work on Sundays. Exercise 20 mins yoga or any kind of exercise boost dopamine. Dress up. Don't work with your pyjamas. Dress like you go to office, trick your mind. Have a personal space If you don't have a spare room or flat is small. Just make a corner and spend some time there. Read books. I'm build software products, we already read every day lots of docs, specs.. read something different. helps a lot. Keep contact with your circles. If you are stuck at home, use facetime or something different than you use for work and call your friends/family and spend sometime. We mostly make dinners. Everyone prepare their own table and join to a call and we talk... Don't do same activities after work. I mean, don't just sit and watch netflix everyday. do something different. may be, try arts?

@rdnckky Oh, thank you a lot for such detailed answer! Dog is my dream! What do usually like to do after working hours?

@rdnckky These are great recommendations. I wanted to also confirm about yoga positive influence on mental health. I found the info about the connection between mental health and yoga on the Canada Drugs website. And since I started to practice yoga I feel much better physically and mentally as well.

It's interesting also for me because I personally find a sense of accomplishment when I do or work more. But I learned that the best work I've done was when I had enough sleep, feeling rejuvenated and inspired. In a nutshell, mental health and personal balance are not something you need to "sacrificed" for in order to be productive or whatever. They're part of the ingredients :) So I try to remind myself "do you really need to finish it today?" and have a blocker for "me" time. Hope you find your way for more a balanced life, cheers!

Try to eat healthy food, go out for a walk in the evening, exercise in the morning, do something that makes you happy. These will definitely help!

I'm not used to dealing with mental problems with medication, I forbid myself to do that. There are many natural remedies for insomnia or anxiety, but I choose to solve the problem rather than run away from it. I find a few hours a week to take advantage of psychiatry services, the only thing that can help me sort out the thoughts that are bothering me. Those who have once experienced panic attacks understand that it is very difficult to deal with it alone. I advise you not to keep quiet about your mental health problems, as time goes by it will make you even more uncomfortable. I believe that the only way to solve these problems once and for all is to work with a specialist.

If you have good mental health , you might have emotions including happiness, love, joy and compassion, and you feel generally satisfied with life. You are also likely to feel like you belong to a community and are making a contribution to society.
