Are Product Hunt ads worth it?

I understand the value of the local engaged community, but $5000 seems rather steep for a smaller brand.

If you tried PH before, was it worth it? What are some tips/best practices to get enough bang from this buck?

I feel like the paid products are the ones that rank higher now a days but that's also upsetting because PH is about building transparently in public.

I'd say not worth it. There are things nobody can guarantee you, no matter how much you pay them.
