AI talent war hots up

AI experts at the mid to senior levels are in demand. Head of AI, Head of Data Sciences, Head of Platform Engineering, and Head of Gen AI are the most sought-after job profiles, with candidates having two to three offers to choose from at a time. In fact, quite a few firms have made appointments in these profiles recently, like SAP Labs India, Blackstone, Xebia, Adani AI Labs, and Yotta Data Services, the report says. The number of senior and leadership positions in AI has doubled in the last year and the demand isn’t just limited to tech companies,The healthcare, retail, energy, manufacturing, cement production, and consulting sectors are looking for AI talent. For close to seven in 10 firms in India, high salary expectations are proving to be a roadblock in hiring AI talent, according to a survey by Deel and Rakuten. In fact, four in five of the 250 companies surveyed are only looking to hire within India, primarily in the finance, manufacturing, and tech sectors.
