Let's look at the data.
Based on the top 10 companies in the world (by market cap), it's very 50/50 :) So the right answer is "it depends."
Centralized Management or Decentralized Management?

Product vision is a luxury that you'll only deserve after you achieve product market fit.
Until then, you're fumbling in the dark (trying to figure out what your product should be). And the only light you have are user requests.
I like Jack Dorsey's quote "we didn't invent Twitter, we discovered it." And I'd argue every company started that way (unless your name is Jeff Bezos).
How do you balance user requests and your product vision?

Integrate internationalization and oauth much sooner. Easier to do on a new codebase, and VERY painful to do on a more mature live product.
If you had to rebuild your product from scratch, what would you do differently?

I think so because every time I see a product in the top 10 they have a video of some sort (then again maybe that's just because most PH launches have videos nowadays so maybe there's no connection)
Does a loom video walkthrough or an animated video work better for PH launch?

Depends on the author... I'll still read any long (loooong) blog post written by Tim Urban π
And if something makes it to the top of Hacker News or Reddit then at least there's "some" signal that a lot of people found value in this article.
But for everything else... Have ChatGPT summarize it π

I mean thanks to all the AI tools, you can build a product in one week, and then make a few dollars here and there by launching it on all the platforms (Product Hunt, Hacker News, etc...).
But in my experience, it'll take 3-4 years before you make any real ($20k+ per month) money.
(this assuming you're bootstrapped... Obviously raising VC accelerates things).
How much time does it take to create a product that makes money?

To me it's always a binary, price decision.
I'll go with whichever option is cheaper.
How do you decide when to invest in custom tooling versus using off-the-shelf solutions?

Doesn't user feedback create the roadmap? Your job is to launch quickly and iterate based on the feedback.
How do you balance user feedback with your roadmap?

Thoughts on AI dating apps?
Just launched one.
I know they're VERY popular, but also controversial.
Most are focused on instant gratification, while some (like Replika and my own) are focused on building a more long-term, healthy connection.
You need a bit of both (just like real relationships, and we saw that in the movie "Her").
So I'd love to hear your thoughts on where that sweet spot is!

Hi Product Hunt π
Spark is an AI dating app that feels like a game.
π€ Problem
Current AI dating apps focus on instant gratification, which quickly gets... Boring. They also suffer from choice overload and your "companion" is being shared with millions of other people (like that two-timing AI in "Her").

A gamified AI dating app that mirrors real-life relationships!

The design is OFF the charts! I couldn't love it more.
Before signing up, I only have two questions cause the homepage doesn't answer them:
1. What's the price? I'm afraid of getting 3 months free, falling in love, and then getting a big monthly bill.
2. The video says my data is stored locally, but I have to log into the site? So you mean stored on my browser? Or is there an app to download...
