Hello!
I'm Pēteris Caune, the maker of Healthchecks.io, a monitoring service for cron jobs. I started this project 4 years ago (time flies!), as I needed/wanted a monitoring service like this myself, and was not satisfied with the existing options. As a solo founder I enjoy the variety of tasks – from experimenting with UI features and pixel-pushing, to tinkering with Twitter ad campaign creatives, to tweaking kernel parameters on bare metal servers. Check out the blog at https://blog.healthchecks.io to read more about my experiences building Healthchecks.io.
The code powering Healthchecks.io is BSD-licenced and is developed in the open: https://github.com/healthchecks/healthchecks Self-hosting is an option, but for most people I would recommend the hosted service at https://Healthchecks.io: it has a free plan for hobbyists (monitor up to 20 tasks / jobs / services), and a $16/mo plan for businesses with significantly higher limits.
If you are a developer, a devops engineer or a systems administrator looking after various small services, and have had a nagging thought "if this randomly breaks six months from now, I wonder how soon someone will notice", I welcome you to try healthchecks.io out, and let me know what you think!
Thanks,
Pēteris
