Would you pay $49 for a video tool?

Just wondering how many of you see this price as too cheap, considering it's a one time payment.
We are currently offering https://www.canvid.com/ perpepual license plus 2 years cloud support and updates (instead of 1 year), for $49 (instead of $89).
Is it too little and may put people off thinking that it's not a good software? Or is it in line with what you'd be willing to pay?
I personally think that it's an unbelievable oportunity and value for money. Especially for someone who needs to make a lot of screen recordings for demos, tutorials and other online content.
Thoughts?

I like kapwings model. free to use. but adds watermark, which works as a growth hack to get new customers. and then offer a subscription or one time fee to remove the watermark. also great way to onboard lurkers and newbies. but it has to be validated left and right of course. Kapwing is doing pretty well. nice growth the last few years. But I was surprised that they didn't have a bigger turnover. I think it was 6m$ a year at this point when I checked the numbers a week ago. worth a look. Also compare with veed.io

@sentry_co haha watermark for life 😂. Totally see where you’re coming from. We actually did consider a one month subscription too, so we can cater for anyone who’s working on one off projects. Will mention it to the team again as I do think that even though our lifetime offer is good it may put many people off. Thanks for your 2 cents as always 😉
@sentry_co yeah I played around with various pricing models in the past and having a free version certainly helps in driving the sign ups. Plus it’s free advertisement with the watermark. However I did see the case where some users figured out how to remove the watermark and told the world how to do it too 😅. I guess it also depends on the type of users you want to attract. For example we had thousands of sign ups and free users at VideoCom but we were struggling to convert them to paid. For CANVID our goal was to make people want to pay for the tool pretty much right away after testing it. It’s currently totally free to use and export but people are purchasing it anyway because of the great value. I’m sure this $49 special offer encourages them too because they know that it’ll end pretty soon😊.
@simona_o_neill3 Yeh. there will always be freeloaders. but I don't think they should be a worry. they would never buy the software anyways. I think the concern with lifetime / 1 year of updates. is that there is a big group that only need this a few times. I would think that group is big actually. Just make the watermark impossible to remove. like jumping up and down etc 😂 anyways # my two cents. I don't have the full information, so its just tip of the nose best guestimating from my side 😸

I personally wouldn’t but it’s because I don’t like to spend money in general.
@benjamin_sloutsky 😂So do you only use free tools ?
Hello,
Of course. I paid $89 for another one.
Launching soon!
For $49, a perpetual license plus 2 years of support? Sounds like getting a high-tech gadget for the price of a sad office plant. Count me in!
@thestarkster haha nice 😉
Depends on if the problem it solves is worth that much or more...will it end up making me more than $49?
@jd_worcester definitely! ROI is always important. If we take a ballpark figure of say $75 per hour for video editing service, and there’s a tool for $49 that cuts the time to the quarter of an hour. Total cost $49+18.75=$67.75 and you get to keep the tool for the next project and the next and so on. So even if it’s just a once off project it pays off pretty much right away.
$49 one off seems reasonable. Reminds me of the days when you actually used to buy software and not subscriptions.
I have to say no! But I might not be you customer target
Hi Simona,
$49 for a perpetual license plus 2 years of cloud support is a fantastic deal. However, consider cross-selling add-ons for specific use cases. This approach can help tailor the product to individual needs and demonstrate the value by showing how much time and resources users save with your tool.
Hope this helps!
Best,
