Will designers take more product ownership in the future?

Although there is some buzz going on about the future of Product Managers (Brian Chesky, Marty Cagan, Karri Saarinen, etc.) I think it's very clear that PMs are crucial to most organisations. Having said that, I do see UX/UI teams (at least here in Europe) taking more ownership of features and some product-related metrics like adoption rates and conversions. Is this also the case across your organisations?

I see this happening. Designers are closer to the code that gets shipped with tools like Figma so there is a tighter feedback loop between customer feedback > design > code.

Definitely seeing this trend. Designers are stepping up and taking more end-to-end ownership, from ideation to implementation. Tools like Figma are empowering designers to get closer to the code and ship features faster based on customer feedback. It's an exciting shift that's blurring the lines between design and product roles.

@rowanmaxwelleverett Any tools you would recommend for collecting and extracting insights from customer feedback? I feel the qualitative part is very relevant but often not so straightforward to get.

Yeah designers are def taking on more product ownership these days with tools like Figma allowing tighter design-dev integration. The shorter feedback loop from user research to design to code helps designers play a bigger role in the full product development lifecycle vs just handing off static mocks. Curious to see how this trend evolves!

Good point @benjaminthomasclark and Figma is definitely working hard to improve design to code and code to design loops. Very excited to see how this field evolves!

Designers are definitely taking more product ownership! With collaborative tools like Figma, designers and devs can iterate faster. Plus, designers understand user needs best. It's a natural progression IMO.
