I’ve been using WeWork for a long time now, and honestly most of my experiences have been positive. The few times that projects have not worked out well have been due to the contractor and not the platform itself

@fam_socialfinance Thanks for your input. Did you mean Upwork? Is there anything you would change?
Louis Cirignano
@gene_nemirovsky Hahaha, indeed I did. The one thing I would change which may be difficult for a start up to achieve, is the filtering of relevant work experience. Often times I’ll get 30 responses to a job posting, but most of them don’t have any relevant work experience, which is critical. I don’t want to hire a graphic designer to mock up my App Store renderings if they’ve never done it before

I hate how they gamified the bidding system for proposals. I stopped using UpWork long ago because I no longer needed it to find work but as of late I've been using it to apply for design contracts. The freelancers really get squeezed with the Connects

@gene_nemirovsky Tbh If i was CEO of UpWork I don't know that I would do anything differently. At the end of the day, they have all the leverage and assuming they've already captured 80% of the market of freelance work then the only thing left to grow is just to squeeze more revenue out of the freelancer base by increasing competition artificially.
Gene Nemirovsky
@frenchmajesty what would you do differently?
Gene Nemirovsky
@frenchmajesty how do think they're increasing competition artificially? Do you think there're fake profiles bidding on projects?

@gene_nemirovsky no, by having an auction-type bidding system. By having a thing where your profile “bleeds” connect if you want a banner that says you’re available. It increases how much connects freelancers in developed nations go through to get jobs and then requiring them to buy more
