We asked the same question a while ago where we were choosing a communication platform for LUNADIO Comunity. We let our newsletter subscribers vote what they want to use, and they preferred Discord over Slack. I like both. There are pros and cons for each platform. Everyone has Slack installed already, and they got great onboarding. Discord has voice channels, unlimited message archive but missing threads.

For work, I prefer slack. It has a lot of functionalities tailored to a team-based collaboration system. While I prefer Discord whenever I am with my friends, it has this vibe that makes you want to chill and talk with them.

I like Slack more but I wouldn't rule out Discord as well. They are both great products.

I like Discord because many people enjoy using Discord and its screen-sharing feature. Earlier Discord screen share feature may have been popular just with gamers, but later it self-established as a collaboration tool that made small companies use it

Both Slack and Discord are great tools, but they serve slightly different purposes, so it depends on the context! Slack is fantastic for professional use. It’s designed for teams and workspaces, with a lot of integrations and a focus on productivity. The ability to create channels for specific topics or projects and the seamless integration with tools like Google Drive, Trello, and others make it a great fit for business environments. Discord, on the other hand, is more casual and community-driven. It's perfect for gaming, hobby groups, or informal conversations. It has great voice chat and community-building features, like live streaming and server customization, which makes it a fun and interactive space. If I were to choose between them, I’d lean toward Slack for work-related tasks and Discord for fun or more relaxed, community-oriented spaces. How about you? Which one do you prefer?
