Product dev and startup dev is full of mistakes and learnings we can grow from. I think there is no better way than to learn from founder to founder - so what was the 1st and biggest mistake you did when starting working on your idea?
For me:
- Directly set up a team
- Analyse VC-potential right away to not try & bootstrap too long

Not sure about the first but the biggest was having a "big business" ego. I was doing solid 6 figure a month revenue and thought I needed to look the part. I waas dong all the fancy stuff like CRO audits, big advertising firms, expenses website, etc. I'd spend money like crazy thinking it was the right thing to do.
Looking back, I should have just stayed leaned. Most of that stuff isn't really needed or I could have just hired a few consultants and freelancers do provide similar results for a fraction of the cost.

I agree with your conclusions. For me, the first failure was primarily due to a product that was too complex and a lack of knowledge about how to run a startup business.
