As far as I have gathered my knowledge on this (from the desire to launch something of my own someday, fingers crossed)...... here's a summary -

- clear value proposition, focus on actual usefulness of the product (most important) 
- build anticipation (teasers, social media etc. with engaging visuals)
- interact with Product Hunt community (discussions, upvotes etc.)
- contact influential users for early promotion
- choose optimal weekday and time for launch
- maintain momentum with post-launch content
- prioritize feedback and iterate quickly
