What's your opinion? Do you think having dogs in the office contributes to a better environment?

In Germany, many companies allow employees to bring their dogs to the office, but not everyone is enthusiastic about it. How about in your company/country? Is this a topic there too?

If the dog is well-trained and obedient, why not.

@elenat I used to feel this way as well until we had team members who either had severe trauma from dogs in the past or who have had severe allergies. So now I see it as mostly unnecessary. It's uncomfortable for people to speak up and say they are the reason people can't have dogs in the office. Easier just to never start.

@elenat @karlll Thank you very much for your opinion. I think well-trained dogs could bring joy! However, it's crucial to ensure that every person in the office feels comfortable with it. Of course, considering the comfort and safety of all team members is essential. Allergies and past trauma can make it challenging for some, so it's understandable why some offices choose not to allow dogs.

Whether dogs can come to work depends on what people at the office think. If everyone is okay with dogs at work, then it's fine to bring them. But if people don't like dogs or are allergic to them, it's not a good idea to bring your dog. So, it really depends on what the people at work feel about it.

When they are relaxed and don't need attention all the time, it is fine for me. To pet a dog after some stressful meetings can definitely help to calm down and get head free for the upcoming tasks.

@marvin_maendle Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this topic. I also find that bringing dogs into the office can have the benefits you mentioned, especially if everyone is okay with it and the dog is relaxed.

Bringing them to office occasionally is the best way to go. I'd never recommend bringing them on a regular basis as most of them are attention seekers and they might disturb you or others in the workspace, or chew on cables, couches or pillows if they are not well trained (from a personal experience). They might get bored as well. But I might be wrong here. If they like to sleep all day with their belly up, you can surely bring them.

@zignis Thank you for sharing your point of view! Bringing dogs into the office occasionally sounds like a good compromise. It ensures that they don't disrupt the work area too much and provide some furry company when needed. In my opinion, it's only ok to bring well behaved dogs into the office, as not every dog is suitable for the office.

A big yes for me. They are always there to cheer up our days, so why not also at the office?
