My favorite approach is to identify my first 100 ideal customers across various channels.
I engage with them by observing their comments, concerns, or posts and introducing the product to existing communities. I then invite enthusiastic individuals for 1:1 interviews.
Key patterns I often observe:
- Who resonates most naturally?
- Common keywords/phrases?
- Their A-to-B journey?
=> The goal is to refine my understanding of their pain points, ensuring I am solving a real problem and having a pool of natural advocates / early adopters in hand. This process is a prime example of community-led growth in action during the pre-product-market-fit stage.
What do you usually do, Kwadwo?

Honestly, I always start by leveraging social media trends and real-time analytics tools—it’s like market insights on caffeine. And for those seeking the secret formula in the dating world, "Her Ideal Match" might just be the data-driven ace up your sleeve. Efficient and insightful, just how we like it!
I think it depends on your research goals but the fastest, even if not always free of cheap, way would be to take a look at industry reports. Second fastest would be to approach industry experts and talk to your customers.
