I am launching a product this week, and in preparing for the post-launch phase, I've realized the need for advice on blog marketing.
You can check out my product here:
https://www.producthunt.com/products/tempo-messenger
I've been posting blog posts related to productivity on my website since August, despite having no prior experience in blogging or blog marketing.
1) Where do you prefer to post your blogs, and why?
- On your own website
- On Medium exclusively
- On your own website and Medium, or perhaps another platform
2) Do you have any SEO advice for my website?
I've written a blog post titled "WhatsApp Alternative: Do We Need One?" which has been up for almost 30 days. I've indexed the website using Google Search Console and followed basic SEO guidelines, but I haven't been able to find the blog on Google when searching for the keyword "WhatsApp Alternative" Any SEO tips?
You can read the blog post here:
https://tempo.ms/blogs/whatsapp-alternative-do-we-need-one
3) Please share any general advice on blog marketing.

1. website
2. use ahrefs and study there guidea and blogs and you will understand how to better rank
3. Understand you have 3 types of content, and that means 3 types of blog.
top of the funnel - The lead is not aware of your brand or even these types of solutions
middle of the funnel - The lead is searching answers for some type of issues that your solving or they are aware of your brand but are not ready to buy.
bottom of the funnel - They are searching to buy a tool to solve the isssue or find an alternative to the one they are using.
When you understand which blog is for which funnel then you can adjust how you write and how you promote yourself.

Thanks for sharing good point!
I need to consider my target audience for each article.
1. I prefer to post my blog posts on the website cause it supports SEO for the overal website and also for introducing my product/service
2. I think the keyword "WhatsApp Alternative" is competitive to rank and your domain is also quite new. You also can adjust the content inside. Normally, if I search "whatsapp alternative", it means that i'm in "consideration stage" of buying journey and i'll expect an artcile that helps me list out some names and compare among them.
3. Can you point out a specific painpoint? It will be easier for others to help.

Do you update the content of your blog, change backlinks, keywords, etc.? If so, how frequently do you make these changes?

@scott_lee777 Check blog ranking every 30 days and adjust the keywords, and content, change stuff and see if you move up

I post to my own site and to Medium.
Launching a product is exciting! Here are some insights:
I prefer posting blogs both on my website and Medium. It widens the audience reach while retaining control over my content.
SEO-wise, ensure your blog is well-structured with relevant keywords. Consider backlinks from reputable sources to improve visibility.
For blog marketing, engage with your audience on social media, collaborate with influencers, and consider paid advertising to boost visibility. Focus on quality and consistency in your content. Also check out some useful info about product vision boardwhich will help you to achieve target you want.
I'd recommend posting on your own website and cross-posting on Medium to reach a wider audience. Diversify your content distribution for maximum impact.

For SEO, I highly recommend creating programmatic SEO pages for the keywords you are targeting and filling them with auto-generated content via AIs and databases (Airtable, Excel). After you get a signal from keywords (ranking in the top 10) you can lean on those keywords to create your own content for better rankings!

@scott_lee777 I've seen a couple of stats on Twitter and this case: https://blog.lowfruits.io/case-s... it is not that bad if you are planning to write about casual topics. But financial advice, health advice, and other sensitive topics are a bit complex.

I've been blogging 2 years.
And i only focus on SEO as channel marketing. The traffic is not so much. Some of my keyword on google page 1 some of on the 2 - 5 page.
This year I change my strategy to double down the traffic. I am active in Medium & Quora and several forums.
The result is much better than SEO.
Why i focus on social media forum rather than SEO?
The answer is simple.
#1 SEO takes time
#2 In this digital age. Personal branding is important. If you were a nobody, who would even Google your name/product?
So, it's important active on forum. Once you write. you can publish anywhere (linkedin, reddit, quora, etc) without worry duplicate content.

Thanks for sharing.
The worst thing about SEO is that it takes a while to learn, test, assess, and get it right.
Your focus seems to be a good fit for startups or SMBs.
Scott, guest blogging is the safest way to promote website content; links are essential for ranking search engines. For this, choosing quality websites where you can submit your guest posts is important. Note the list from Collaborator with 200+ absolutely free websites https://collaborator.pro/blog/gu... And don't forget about press releases to tell about your new product) you can check the catalog of Collaborator with 23,000 websites for this)

We have our own blog, I share everything on Linkedin, but I also selectively post on Medium. SEO takes much time to build, do you keyword and topic research, and then think about which content to write to target these

@scott_lee777 @cloodoworkspace How badly could Google penalize my site? Also I never got a single notification from Google to stop doing this or that it was penalizing my site. And Google is not afraid to send emails...

@cloodoworkspace
Do you post the same articles on both sites? If that's the case, doesn't Google penalize you for having identical content?
WhatsApp CRM
@scott_lee777 well, i do not post the same articles on both sites. each sites will have different articles through, and i can use the article i write on medium to be another valuable links for my blogs articles.

@cloodoworkspace @scott_lee777 Crap, I forgot about duplicate content. I post to both medium and my own site.
WhatsApp CRM
@scott_lee777 @chitterz google never let know you that your website are being penalized, you only can check it through your search console. The worst case is your website traffic being lowering down which not making enough impression and your businesses will likely not having much users!
You can check the difficulty of your keyword and a general click amount of it before you use it. If the word is very popular, there's should be a set content format available that reader expect.

I recently found article that answers my question:
https://www.thesideblogger.com/h...
"In my personal opinion, bloggers and content creators who treat this as their business should be on their own platforms (such as WordPress). Period.
Medium should only be a place where you republish what you’ve already published on your WordPress blog (which I highly recommend, FYI)"
1) own website, subdomain, for SEO benefit
2) keyword research, plus SEO tools like SEMrush, Ahrefs etc.
