Agreed, long-term memory and context retention seem key for AGI. I'm excited about the potential of AI memory architectures that can dynamically update and retrieve relevant knowledge on-demand while mimicking the human brain's ability to prioritize, forget, and maintain ethics. Anthropic's recent work on constitutional AI and factored cognition for safe and capable AI agents feels like an important step in this direction. Will be fascinating to see how this progresses!

I think people have overlooked the importance of building long term memory for AI. As AI agents become more cross-platform and multi-tasking, there’s a greater need for shared context across a long duration. Human needs to learn in order to grow and improve from past mistakes. So do machines. For machines to learn and self-evolve, they need memory that dynamically updates itself, contextually-aware. But AI memory isn’t the same as what we narrowly defined now, ie longer context window that is limited by session or just traditional RAG that is per query based. There’s a need for a better architecture that mimics human brain like memory, which can prioritize what’s important, forget what’s unnecessary, dynamically update partial memories, and retrieving memories for on-demand usages, while maintaining ethics and privacy. This will be a breakthrough for AGI, if solved.

The most exciting application of AI recently is in generative design, where AI creates innovative product designs or artwork based on user input. It's revolutionizing industries like fashion, architecture, and entertainment by enabling creativity at an unprecedented scale.
