  • What makes a Reel boring 🥱

Try to avoid that: ❌ Too formal People come on social media to be entertained and connect with authentic content. Make your content less like a commercial and more like a conversation. ❌ Doesn't spark curiosity Share new information or a different perspective, like a surprising product benefit or a misconception related to your industry or topic. ❌ No movement Adding a transition can make your reels much more dynamic and fun to watch.

A dull, uninspiring reel is a surefire way to turn off an audience. If a reel has no interesting visuals, recycled footage, lack of transitions, music that doesn’t match the footage, or overstuffed sound effects, it will leave viewers bored and disappointed. A successful reel must have compelling footage and creative elements that showcase the individual’s editing skills. It's essential to keep the viewer engaged by finding a rhythm between clips, creating atmosphere with space for moments of silence, and adding music that compliments the images. Attention to detail paired with captivating shots make all the difference in creating an exciting reel that stands out from the crowd!

@alekswatch Yeah, it is very complex to stand out of the crowd. All those elements you mentioned play a huge role in succeeding.

There are many things that can make your video boring and one of them is a lack of a story. If you want your audience to pay attention and remember, give them a story!

Reels should be short, ideally 3-5 minutes. In most cases, the shorter the reel, the more impact it has on the viewer.

Sometimes people include reels that are not edited well or have music that is not edited well or have elements that do not fit with the rest of their work. This makes the reel seem incomplete, or that the designer has a lot of work to do to improve his/her reel.

@savio_lavino Yes, I agree, but when it comes to production, I usually look at the creator and his/her opportunities (is it agency/freelancer/student?) Their capabilities differ.
