What is a good way/best practice to pre pre-launch?

My team of 1 hustler, 2 hackers and 2 hipsters are creating a travel idea app, for weekend city-breaks (hoperfy.com) . Before the beta MVP is tested, what is a good way to pre-launch, get some early people, to sign up? What worked for you? This is a b2c, self-service app. Thanks you P.S.
