@umar_saleem Yes that's also what I think. Ultimately we have always been optimizing for comfort and speed. AI will definitely replace a lot of jobs but I think this will give us the opportunity to focus on more meaningful things such as reducing our carbon emissions or going to space, etc.

Look at the invention of the car in the early 1900s, the computer in the 70s, and the internet in the 90s. All these inventions caused massive job loss and a shift in the economy. It is predicted that automation will impact lower-skilled jobs the most. Although, this does not mean that automation will destroy all jobs completely.

@philipsnyder @clement862 That's my favourite comparison to make. Most people don't even know what HTML is although they use it everyday... Ultimately AI will become a tool like any other that some people know how to use while some others don't

I think that AI and automation will have a huge impact on the job market in the next few years. I had a chat with one of my high school teachers a couple of weeks ago, and he told me that he expects most of his students to loose their jobs because of the coming AI revolution. I can see why he thinks this way.

I can imagine a future in which companies will be able to cut down their workforce by replacing their employees with a digital workforce built on smart machines. The problem here is that a lot of workers will end up being replaced and will have no choice but to live off welfare until we find a solution for this. I think that our main focus should be on preventing that the gap between the rich and poor increases in the coming years.
