I found various resources and websites with information about it and ways to search for a hunter, but I still have questions. Please share your experience, it is very meaningful to me and, I believe, to everyone who is going to launch ๐
1. How many days before the launch did you start searching for hunters?
2. How did you connect with them?
3. How did you realize that a particular person was the perfect hunter for your product?
4. Did you pay anything?
5. And what about refusals? Did you text someone who refused to be your product hunter?
And dear hunter, if you read this, please give a sign ๐ซ๐

the recommendation to use a hunter is outdated info.

you need a hunter only in case he/she will hunt your product for free + give additional support, but most of them are just making money. you can be your own hunter and take full control of the launch, better get a proper consultation on preparation, you can do it! good luck
Hi, Ksenia! I've had a positive experience with finding a hunter for my product - Approveit - and I'm happy to share.
First, you'd need to do a bit of research and see who's the best fit for your product.
Have they launched similar products in the past?
Did those products get traction?
Does the hunter have enough followers?
If yes, are they active in the community?
If you're satisfied with all the answers to the presented questions, all that's left for you to do is reach out to people!
Some will refuse, and that's okay.
Some will ask for reimbursement, and here you'd need to weigh all the pros and cons. We haven't paid for the launches, and I do believe that it's absolutely possible to find a hunter who'd be happy to present a cool product for free.
Some you just won't vibe with.
But eventually, you'll find someone who'll be perfect for you.
I'd start looking at least 1 month before your launch date since popular hunters will have their product launching schedule and you want to make sure they have space for you.
And I must say, as the commenters below have mentioned, that the hunter is definitely not a requirement, you can post your product yourself, and organically promote it. However, having a hunter with big following may give you a kickstart for your first lauch day

Connecting was mostly through LinkedIn and Twitter DMs. Finding the perfect hunter felt a bit like dating - their previous hunts and enthusiasm for similar products gave it away. Hey, you do not need a hunter. Trust me.
Ask for support in PH subreddit, LinkedIn product hunt groups and promote it organically. Also, make a post on launch day and people will support you 100% if the idea is good :)

Do you think it's possible that a hunter will hunt the product without a preliminary agreement? When I saw that somebody hunted a product, I thought it was because they liked the product. I didn't know that founders were looking for a hunter before the launch ๐

No, we didn't pay our hunters. It was more about finding fan who resonated with our product's mission.
I wouldn't pay a hunter, unless it's Michael Siebel from YC
I started looking for hunters about a month before our launch. It gave us enough time to find the right fit and communicate our expectations clearly
Connecting with hunters was mostly through LinkedIn and Twitter. It's where I found active communities discussing product launches.
Finding the perfect hunter was about design with our product's values and their enthusiasm for our mission. Personal connection played a big role.

The connection matters! Gotta find a hunter I vibe with and who feels genuinely excited about my product.
