Over the years, I've had so many conversations with founders, investors and colleagues about the 'right' order for building out your Marketing team. I'm always a fan of bringing in sharp, strategic 'generalists' in the early days, who can lead the early planning, testing and insights. Marketing is a huge umbrella though - so there's a lot to consider when deciding which hire you must have first, and which you can get by without until the volume scales or the next funding round comes along. I've recently read a great blog from Emily Kramer (MKT1) on this (https://mkt1.substack.com/p/marketing-org-chart) and it prompted me to ask the community. What does your Marketing org chart look like? And what was the first hire? Are there any hires you wish you'd made sooner?
