What do you think about my landing page?

I recently finished designing the landing page for my personal website. The website name is Awa Creates. I used Typescript, Next.js, Tailwind CSS, NodeJS, Mongoose, and MongoDB as the stack. On the website, I provide free tutorials, articles, and answers to questions about full-stack development in Typescript/JavaScript. Check it out and let me know what you think: https://awacreates.com/. Would greatly appreciate feedback on the theme, typography, layout, copy, and performance.

I like it! I struggled to find much wrong with it, but here is what my feedback would be if I was the Product Owner and you wanted me to sign off: hero background image - I like the code behind the image, but it's too faded - could you pump up the alpha value so I can see a little more of it to give the hero a bit more texture / interest. Carousel for tutorials - could we move the carousel arrows so they don't obscure the copy? Either move them or make them visible on hover? Particularly important on mobile as there's only one card on the screen and I can't see some of the copy. Alternatively replace it with navigation dots underneath if there's a reasonably small set. (say 5 or fewer). Links offsite (from Visit App) should open a new tab rather than leave the site. Newsletter should be one word, rather than "news letter" (personal preference) "Services" takes me to a newsletter sub page - wasn't what I was expecting, what I was expecting was basically a list of what you can offer me.

And most importantly, thanks for the tips @matt_harbord I agree that the intro background is too faded. I will try out pumping up the alpha value to see how it feels. Now that you mentioned it, I agree that the arrow buttons on the carousel needs to be made in a way that they only appear as the user hovers on the cards. The "Services page is still to be worked on. The newsletter field is just a temporary placeholder. Thanks again for the kind feedback. I so much appreciate it.🙏 Let me get to work!😇

@matt_harbord said a lot of interesting things, it shows that he is an expert. Me as a simple visitor, I liked your site. I would have just touched the color of the header a little more to see the background image a little more. Voila, otherwise it is a clear and friendly site 😊

I think the site is strong! One piece of feedback - I wasnt 100% sure what the goal of the site was when I first landed on it. I think the subcopy under the header could be improved. Assuming you're hoping to use it to get clients / contract work, I would update the copy to something like: "I bring passion for front-end development, a commitment to delivering exceptional results, and I'd love to work with you!" Otherwise it's tough to tell whether it's just a portfolio or I should try to hire you. Overall, really nice job!

Thanks for the tip @benjamin_katz2 Will definitely update it. I actually just placed that there as a placeholder while I think of a better and more elegant text.
