Also important to cover what they don’t want. They don’t want a salesy newsletter that’s just trying to pitch products for affiliate commissions. And they definitely don’t want their data to be shared with any third party whatsoever :)

Can someone who has gone through using newsletters for customer retention say if having social sharing buttons actually works, in theory, it's perfect for referrals but I just can't imagine someone sharing a newsletter.
