After a long time, I have managed to rekindle my habit of reading books. I have already finished one in the last 3 months (I'm a slow reader), and now I have picked up the classic - The Great Gatsby. I would love to know what you're reading. Extra thumbs up to people who can recommend me books for reading. I'm open to every genre. Happy reading :)

@guillaumecleme Yup, experimenting with different topics is great for building knowledge. I remember reading a book on Neuroscience which talked extensively about the Amygdala. While it's nowhere near my profession, it gave me detailed insights on how our brain functions.

@laxman_karthik Haha, agreed. I love business and technology books but since I spend most of my days in that space, I have to switch it up before bed.

@karthik_tatikonda Oh, the famous books. Honestly, I have not read either of them, but I have heard about both the books from so many people that I should read them soon.

The Almanack of Naval Ravikant - What I Talk About When I Talk About Running by Haruki Murakami Murakami is one of Japan's most successful contemporary authors, and also happens to have translated The Great Gatsby—a book which he absolutely loves—into Japanese. Here's what he wrote about it: "Gatsby really is an outstanding novel. I never get tired of it, no matter how many times I read it. It’s the kind of literature that nourishes you as you read, and every time I do I’m struck by something new, and experience a fresh reaction to it. I find it amazing how such a young writer, only twenty-nine at the time, could grasp—so insightfully, so equitably, and so warmly—the realities of life." I actually just published my book summary here in case you're curious: https://omwow.com/witawitar/ - The Last Unicorn by Peter Beagle (This is not about startups, but about the fairy tale kind of unicorn). A strangely beautiful book. The author actually wrote it as a spoof on fairy tales, but it turned into an absolute fantasy classic. I'm not particularly prone to fantasy novels, but this book has unexpected layers of depth to it. - Dune (not reading this currently, but definitely would recommend it). Read the first Dune book. It's hard to get into and I kind of had to grind through the first 50 pages or so, but once you're over that initial bump, and you get into this world, it's an absolute masterpiece. Again, one of these books that contains so much wisdom and understanding of life, and how the world works, that translates very well into your own life.

I'm currently re-reading Brave New World by Aldous Huxley. It is essentially the counterpart to George Orwell's 1984. And I think that it better describes our Western world of mass entertainment, social media and substance abuse. In 1984, people are controlled by inflicting pain. In Brave New World, they are controlled by inflicting pleasure.

@kostarados Thanks for sharing the plot too. I was planning to pick up 1984 soon, so maybe, I should buy this one as well.
