All of us have competitors and we know most of them. We're trying to create great products and seeking for more efficient ways to solve problems than others. You know, sometimes we discover new competitors. What are you feeling when this happens?

When I find a new competitor I think it verifies the thesis that there is an opportunity and reinforces the need to work hard to be better.

Assume that there will always be competitors. if they are not there, seeing your idea, there soon will be. I remember a time, when every SaaS used to say that Google was their competitor! In fact, like @shailsilver points out, presence of competitors verifies the idea. So, you focus on execution, That said, finding out about a new competitor always pinches. No two opinions about that!

@shailsilver @kkumarkg Definitely you're right! But, discovering a product that solves the problem in the same way which you call your unique approach to problem might make unhappy I think.

First of all, there will still be pressure unconsciously, but I think it is still necessary to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of others and summarize what else needs to be done. Of course, no matter what, you still have to have a clear main line.
