The Foo Fighters covered Queen's "Someone to Love," with drummer Taylor Hawkins venturing in advance for vocal obligations, during an extraordinary show at the Canyon Club outside of Los Angeles Tuesday, January fifteenth.
A fan-shot video from the show discovers Hawkins trading places with frontman Dave Grohl, who sits down behind the drums while Hawkins presents the cover. Hawkins noticed that, after at first proposing the Foo Fighters cover Queen, a large portion of the band thought there was no chance they could do it — with the exception of Grohl who figured, "Possibly we can."
The actual exhibition was suitably amazing, as Hawkins spread some hard rock coarseness on the vocals, and guitarists Pat Smear and Chris Shiflett did Brian May pleased with their destroying. Grohl even took the melody's acclaimed breakdown to toss in somewhat of a drum solo.
The Foo Fighters' gig at the Canyon Club was declared only a couple days prior and tickets were simply offered to individuals who were completely immunized (as Stereogum noticed, that choice figured out how to draw in a little horde of hostile to vax dissidents). The show additionally filled in as a warm-up gig of sorts in front of the band's large show to return Madison Square Garden for music Sunday, June twentieth.
