Finding a technical co-founder on YCombinator startup school portal is common in my circle, however, I’m not sure about their quality.

Search on reddit. There are a few communities focused on this (it's not easy, but at least worth giving it a shot).

Attending tech meetups, like a local JavaScript community event can be a good place to start. A lot of universities also run tech events, and many also run entrepreneur meetups. Finally, startup accelerators like Antler and Techstars have programs for bringing co-founders together.
@mike_fitzbaxter Noted. Thanks for sharing Mike!
@mike_fitzbaxter Thanks for sharing all of this, super useful info.
Got any tips when it comes to finding these tech events and informing yourself more on what events and meetups are happening?
@alexisvre Obviously you can change the location, but you should be able to search online for community events near you: https://www.meetup.com/en-AU/fin...
@alexisvre Also, clearly, Javascript is one small community, other popular ones for SaaS engineering include: go-lang, rust, python, c, java, ruby, and PHP. Your success in each of these areas might vary, and I've surely missed some great ones, but those tend to be the more popular for backend builds. For mobile apps, keep an eye out for Swift events, and also React/React-native, or Kotlin/Java for android.

surround yourself with technical people. whether that's joining a startup or moving somewhere with a lot of tech
@entreeden Makes sense. When you mean move somewhere with a lot of tech do you mean geographically?
got any examples?
Appreciate the feedback

@alexisvre yeah geographically if possible :) for example if you’re in the US moving to San Francisco
@entreeden Okok I see. Need to explore this a bit more.
Thanks a lot, Eden.

@mahsimadastan Have you found this to work quite well?

@alexisvre that’s how I found my co-founder. Went through 800 profiles, interviewed 10, and picked 1. Great fit not just technical skills, but values and alignment
@alexisvre Contrary to what most people say here, I'd say "the web, the internet, the deep digital blue". Everyone already mentioned meetups and what not but what about the internet?
I feel like you're more likely to find someone who is like-minded and have similar interests/experiences on a online platform suited for that very thing. Try some online communities, join a few discord servers and you might find your person.
@constantine_stan Interesting take, what you say makes sense.
Noted on the discord servers. Thanks for sharing your opinion Constantine.
really appreciate it.
