The most loved and hated social media apps

Recently I came across some reports and found apps that are loved/hated according to particular countries. If you are in marketing, you may find it helpful: ❤️ Loved ones are: 1. TikTok 2. Threads 3. Facebook 4. Instagram 5. Likee I also observe most hated not only by countries but also by generations. I wrote the whole newsletter article about it (see comments). 👀 Which App do you like the most and which do you dislike? I like Twitter (or LI) and totally misunderstood BeReal :D

I prefer Twitter over Reddit because Reddit is not very user-friendly for new users trying to post

TikTok and Instagram are super loved, while Facebook and Twitter often get the most hate!

I love TikTok as a marketing girlie, and hate TikTok personally - because it has the latest trends BUT it takes a way a lot of your time before you know it... one, two scroll leads to an infinite scrolls (and bookmarking for marketing ideas)!! 😂

TikTok is definitely the most loved and hated social app right now. Teens are obsessed but parents are freaked out about the privacy issues and addictive nature. Instagram is losing its cool factor with Gen Z. Twitter is a total dumpster fire since the Musk takeover. Facebook is for Boomers at this point. LinkedIn is still going strong for B2B marketing and recruiting though. And of course, everyone still sliding into those DMs 😉

Twitter is definitely both loved and hated. The amount of negativity and fighting on there is exhausting. But I still use it to stay updated on breaking news and follow accounts I'm interested in. Instagram seems universally loved for keeping up with friends' photos. Snapchat gets hated on but the younger crowd still loves it. And TikTok is taking over but also starting to get some hate. I think every social app eventually experiences a love/hate cycle as it grows!

Loved your newsletter! As for my 2 cents, I used to be a Twitter gal back when it was still called that, but I'd say YouTube is my favorite now. The one that just isn't my cup of tea is TikTok. 🙈

TikTok is definitely the most loved by Gen Z. It's so addicting and the algorithm is crazy good at showing you content you like. But Facebook seems to be the most hated these days, especially by younger people. It's seen as outdated and full of misinformation.

Hate TikTok 🙄 Addicted to IG. Always torn on FB - essential or evil? 🤔 LinkedIn is dry but gotta keep up 😴 Twitter died w Elon 💀 Mastodon is for nerds 🤓 BeReal is silly fun 🥳 Snapchat's still kicking?? 👻

Instagram is definitely the most loved, but also the most hated. People are addicted to it but complain about how fake and toxic it is. TikTok is a close second - super engaging but major time suck. Twitter used to be cool but now it's just Elon's plaything. Facebook is for boomers. LinkedIn is actually pretty useful for networking and content these days. Curious what others think?

I’m not the biggest fan of TK, but I absolutely agree that it’s super engaging. :)

That’s an interesting list of loved apps across countries! For me, I enjoy Twitter (or X) because of its real-time updates and the ability to follow niche communities, but I also find LinkedIn great for professional networking. On the flip side, I’ve struggled to understand the appeal of apps like BeReal as well—it feels more forced than authentic sometimes, even though the concept is https://menuland.ph/mcdonalds-ph... meant to be spontaneous. It’s fascinating how generational and geographical preferences shape how apps are perceived. TikTok, for example, is massively popular in younger demographics worldwide, while apps like Facebook see more love among older generations.
