I know it's on Discord and Slack and Reddit and PH discussions etc., but what are the principles organizing your community? Is it interest in your industry? Is it passion for your mission? A love of your product (UX, UI, etc.)? Network of collaborators??

@anil_meena21 I tend to agree with you Anil, and thanks for sharing your thoughts! Yeah there are different stages of building a product as well as building a community. The point about gathering insight is an important one. Community building serves so many purposes.
Anil Meena
@zack_bruce Its about bringing the people onboard early on who share the same problem or vision or may be looking for similar solution. If one is able to gather 50 or 100 such members you can build get lots of insight and build a huge community on top of it. The interesting part is these community can be your customer, loyal fans, audience, or just passionate about your product.

Hi Zack, We personally created a private facebook group to build our community to talk about Web stories, new features etc.

Community = people who engage with each other to drive conversations with low to no moderation from the community founder Audience = founder to many conversations where the founder is the central spoke. You need to bring community through a central focus. I introduce members of my community to each other depending on their area of interest so that they can continue to engage. You can also keep solving their problems through your resources and encourage the community to contribute.

@arunachawla This is so smart and a useful distinction. You should make a blog post about this or a Twitter thread where people can tune into this idea more. Thank you for sharing!

You really need to look at every corner and every part of the machinery to see if it is working properly or if there may be areas for improvement.

I think at the core it's to get people together as the part of community and letting them know what they will get by being a part of it. It may be exclusive access or benefits just for early starters, just make it clear and take feedback from time to time to add in more value for them to be a part of the community.

@adityakaushik38 I agree that making the benefits of community membership clear are important, but how? If you are building community around an idea, then the other members are building the value. How do you choose what to highlight?
Aditya Kaushik
@zack_bruce In the initial phases of community building it's always about the idea. You would always highlight the idea to get that early support and value. Afterwards you will also start to highlight the value that community gives. There are times when communities start with certain idea and end up giving a whole different value and that is totally fine.
