To be honest, it is hard. It is worth remembering that just a wrapper around Chat GPT or other API shouldn't be called a full product, but a lot of those you are talking about are such wrappers. Other than that even building something similar to others can be a win, if you excel at other things, like customer service and iterate better. Many big companies were created like that.
