Social media algorithms: for or against?

Question

If you could choose to have o not to have algorithms in social media, what would you choose? 
On one hand, algorithms "bring to light" accounts you would have never found on your own, but on the other hand, your field on SM is not your own, you have only limited control over it if any at all. What is your opinion?

Social Media algorithms are beneficial for businesses but can be toxic for users. Maybe there are some better ways to create more responsible and accurate algorithms.

@qudsia_ali I'm not entirely convinced that thy are good for business as well. The content that is favored by the algorithms is quite limited and restricted
