I believe it should be added! Adding a DM option could improve networking, but ensuring it's restricted to people you follow would maintain privacy and prevent spam.

No I like not having the DMs unless it was maybe hooked with kitty coins as a payment gateway to get messages

Product Hunt is great as is. Implementing DMs would add too much clutter, because PH serves as a platform to launch products and be immersed in a community who are on the hunt/enthused by new products, possibly to start using in their daily lives or recommend to others. DMs can be done via LinkedIn/Social media platforms.

PH definitely does not need DM most people in the community have links to profiles on other platforms that have DM connect with them that way.
