Balancing short-term gains and long-term value creation is like walking a tightrope in business—it’s constant and challenging. As someone in brand marketing, I’ve seen how tough it can be for decision-makers to prioritize long-term value, especially during hard times when quick wins are tempting. But the truly great brands are the ones that master this balance, aligning immediate needs with a clear vision for the future. It takes not just wisdom but also a big-picture mindset to pull it off consistently.
I swapped 'how fast can we do this?' for 'how long can this last?' Turns out, when you focus on building things that last, speed takes care of itself. Now I treat every quick win like a building block for something bigger. Such a simple switch, but it's been a complete game-changer.
recently i saw a reels on instagram about getting rich (. i know i know, no judgement on my instagram algorithms pls) . basically he says to get from o to $100l - short term gains - create a so-called PET project and quickly sell it. Then do your own pyramid of success: from 100k to mil. from mil to ..... any number. But the main idea is that you cannot do the BIG project from 0
I think long-term value creation is better. Long-term strategies help to build a strong foundation and ensure the growth to be more stable, resulting in stronger market positions. But in most cases, a combination of both strategies is ideal. :)
