Let's take a look at three business models you can consider for your next product. They are: SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS. With reals examples for each model.
If you still have any questions, I will try to explain 😉

Well, let me tell you, when I first heard those acronyms, I was just as confused as you are now. But, after years of working in the tech industry, I've come to understand the meaning behind these terms and how they relate to one another.
SaaS, or Software as a Service, refers to software that is accessed over the internet, rather than being installed on a local computer. Think of it like renting a movie on Netflix, instead of buying it on DVD. You're able to access the software from anywhere, as long as you have an internet connection. Examples of SaaS include Microsoft Office 365, Salesforce, and Zoom.
PaaS, or Platform as a Service, is a bit different. It's a platform that allows developers to build, run, and manage applications, without having to worry about the underlying infrastructure. It's like renting a plot of land to build a house, instead of buying the land and building the house yourself. PaaS providers take care of the infrastructure, so developers can focus on building their applications. Examples of PaaS include Heroku, AWS Elastic Beanstalk, and Google App Engine.
Lastly, there's IaaS, or Infrastructure as a Service. IaaS is a way for organizations to rent computing resources, such as servers, storage, and networking, over the internet. It's like renting a house, instead of buying it. You're able to access the resources you need, when you need them, and only pay for what you use. Examples of IaaS include AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
In summary, SaaS is software you access over the internet, PaaS is a platform for developers to build applications, and IaaS is renting computing resources over the internet. Now, when someone brings up SaaS, PaaS, or IaaS in a conversation, you'll know exactly what they're talking about.
