I would choose traffic over the the badge. Because the badge can loose the status over time. But traffic can lead to the purchase. :)

Have reconciled to the reality that 'Product of the Day' is not going to manifest itself and there's a lot of prior spadework that needs to get done. So while Traffic is the Holy Grail, what I'd be keen for my product's launch would be - "Qualitative" FEEDBACK and VALIDATION. It's the equivalent to a "SHARE" button on social while the others are only vanity metrics.
